RV Winterization Can Save You Thousands in Spring Repairs

Winterization is one of the most important parts of taking care of your RV. Proper winterization is essential to ensuring your RV doesn’t suffer from thousands of dollars worth of damage that can be caused by improper or poor winterization.

While winterization is a task you can perform yourself, many busy RVers prefer to take their RV to their local RV dealership to get winterized. Our experienced RV service team has over 20 years of experience in the plumbing portion of winterizing and de-winterizing RVs. We’re who you want on your side!

Winterization removes all water from the RV to keep it from turning to ice during that can crack and damage  pipes, water tubes, water heaters, and even worse, the engine. Using a non-toxic antifreeze rated at -50 ensures any water remaining in the water pipes doesn’t damage your pipes.

While many tend to associate the winterization process with plumbing and antifreeze, another important part of it is to inspect the sealants on the roof, windows, and seams. A secure and intact sealant prevents moisture from leaking into your RV and promoting the growth of mold and mildew. Poorly put together seams can also welcome in unwanted guests such as mice, who can make their home in your RV while it is parked through the winter.

One of the worst things to find after waiting to RV over the long winter is an RV infested with mice. This is another reason why winterization should also include detailing the interior of your RV and removing all food from the storage areas. This keeps any pests from smelling food and being invited in.

Another important part of winterizing your RV is making sure the batteries are disconnected and stored in a warm, dry place. This prevents corrosion of your battery and saves you the cost of having to purchase a new battery when the new camping season starts up.

As you can see, winterization takes more time and preparation than what you might anticipate. Our team is here to help take the weight off your shoulders so you can rest confident that when spring camping season arrives you’ll be ready to rock and roll!
