burger and potato

Ingredients

Recipe adapted from one on GimmeSomeGrilling.com

  • 1 lb ground beef 80% lean
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 small potatoes
  • 1 lb baby carrots
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 4 slices cheese

Instructions:

  1. Thoroughly wash and dry your potatoes. Peel, thinly slice, and add to a large bowl with the baby carrots. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  2. Preheat the grill to 350 degrees.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg seasoning, salt, and garlic powder. Mix with your hands until thoroughly combined, and then form into four patties of your desired size. Be sure to put a thumbprint in the center of each patty to reduce the amount of shrinking when cooked.
  4. Create four large foil packets, approximately 12” x 18” a piece using heavy-duty aluminum foil. Spray each foil packet with nonstick spray and divide the veggies evenly among them. I had a beef patty to the top of each packet and seal so that no steam will escape.
  5. Set the package on the grill and cook for 35 to 45 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the ground beef reaches 160°. You will want to flip them about halfway through to ensure they don’t burn.
  6. Once the veggies are cooked, open the top of the packet and place a piece of cheese on the burger, close the grill, and allow to cook until the cheese is melted.
  7. Serve hot.
