Camping Recipe: Perfect, Easy Spring Snack

Hey, RV enthusiasts! We hope you are doing well and staying healthy during this time. It’s crazy for all of us, so thank you for your patience as we have been trying to keep things running here at Hitch. We have been so encouraged by the support from our local families through online interaction and phone conversations. In light of these crazy times, we would like to introduce this easy camping recipe. Whether you are in your RV full time or you’re at home waiting until you can purchase your new RV, you can try out this easy camping recipe!




Not only is this recipe perfectly light and yummy for spring time, it’s also packed full of minerals and other healthy vitamins! Next time you’re at the grocery store, grab some apples to make this snack for you and your kids.


  • 3 apples (choose your favorite kind of apples)
  • 1 cup of peanut butter
  • 1 cup of milk chocolate chips (for a healthier snack, use dark chocolate)
  • 1 tbsp shaved almonds


1. Slice each apple in half and use a spoon to dig out the seeds.

2. Use a knife to slice the apples into thin layers (much like a cookie shape).

3. Spread peanut butter over apple slices.

4. Sprinkle chocolate chips and almonds over the peanut butter.

It’s that simple, and it’s that yummy! This will keep a family of 5 from getting hungry before dinner. We hope that this makes you smile and gives you warm, fuzzy feelings during this time. You can adapt this recipe any way that you want, if you’d rather have raisins instead of chocolate chips or just nix the nuts altogether if you have any allergies in your family.
