Top 3 RV Adventure Spots in the New Jersey/Delaware Area

Spring is a few months away! Which means campground sites are getting filled for the summer. If you’re still not sure where you want to go camping as the weather gets warmer, we at Hitch have put together a list of 3 top adventure spots to help you make a decision. If you’re the kind of campers to go adventure outside the campground during your trips, this post is for you! Each of these places in the New Jersey/Delaware Area are geared towards family-friendly adventures.

1. Delaware Water Gap

National Park / (570) 426-2452

This national park is a very large area that covers Delaware, but there are a few specific places to check out during the summer months for some fun adventures with your family. The park is absolutely gorgeous, with many, many waterfalls to see. Because of the mountains, these waterfalls have been formed beautifully, perfect for our enjoyment. In addition to hiking to see these fantastic waterfalls, there are places to swim on the three beaches, have a yummy picnic in the afternoon, and end the day with a relaxing, scenic drive.

If your kids are a bit older and you want more of a fun and educational adventure for your family, Millbrook Village is a great place to go check out. During the summers, they have interactive residents that dress up in the time period of when the village originally was formed, and tourists are allowed to go in and view what it would have been like to live there. This live historic display is worth checking out!

2. Sea Pirate Campground

148 Main Street / West Creek, NJ 08092 / 609-296-7400

We realize this is more of a location than an activity, but we know this campground is a great adventure all on its own! If you have younger kids that aren’t old enough to enjoy hiking, this campground is the perfect RVing adventure for them. With events all throughout the summer, you will never find a dull week. They have arts and crafts available, movies, bingo nights, and many, many more activities as each week has its own theme. Along with offering biking and kayaking rentals, they have a beautiful pool that the whole family can enjoy on a hot summer day.

In addition they have a fun playground, an arcade, and hayrides to enjoy. Your kids (and you!) will never be bored here.

It’s an adventure all on it’s own!

3. Brandywine Zoo

1001 N Park Dr, Wilmington, DE 19802 / (302) 571-7747

Another adventure to have while camping would definitely be the Brandywine Zoo in Delaware. This is a fun activity to do during the morning and afternoon on any given day! There is so much for kids to do during the summer months especially, as they have some fun interactive activity every day from Thursday to Saturday, so make sure to check out the calendar on the website so you can plan accordingly. If you don’t have kids, this is still a relaxing and interesting adventure to go on, as you can stroll through the zoo and enjoy the animals as well as the sunshine.
